I am new to Linux please help! [DR-DOS] A:\>

I am trying to install Linux Freedux and I have dl the os onto my cd. I believe i did this correctly, using iso1 to burn. Anyway, the computer begins to boot what I believe is Freedux and then stops with this: [DR-DOS] A:\> and there I am stuck...right off the bat! What do I need to do? Thanks! (I also have formatted my hard drive leaving only ms-dos on the system...

yeah I do. It runs through some things like it is going to boot fine and then stops at [DR-DOS] A:\> is it maybe because I need to wipe DOS off first to install?

yes.... do it the same way you made the cdrom boot.... you should be able to select nothing else to boot

The first line that comes up when starting to boot is "Starting Caldera DR-DOS"

Not sure, but it sounds like the boot process might be skipping the cdrom drive.

Are you sure you burned the ISO file to the CD as an image? Just copying the ISO to the CD won't work. If burned properly, you should have multiple files on the CD. If you don't have mulitple files, you'll need to start over and burn the ISO as an image to the CD.

Now, even if you do have multiple files, you could have a bad burn and might need to burn the disk again, but at a slower speed. This is assuming you have a good ISO file to start with.
