Installing Packages for Debian Via Gateway

    Hi
I'm trying to install packages on my debian base system but everytime i try to connect to the internet to download the packages from the source files on the debian ftp website it fails to resolve the adress of the ftp.
    My set-up looks like this
debian pc --------> Main PC Xp Pro(192.168.0.1)--------> Internet

If i try to download via HTTP, the package installer requires an HTTP proxy which i obvisouly dont have. Is there anyother way of downloading the packages over the internet, or configuring the package installer manually so it uses the Main PC as a gateway to the internet? I really would like to get this system up and running so any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Richard.

    Of course.

You should create the file /etc/apt/apt.conf (search it with google).

Then, you should add two lines (wich at the moment I don't remember), wich specify the "http_proxy" and "ftp_proxy" APT variables.

There, you can specify the gateway address.

Of course your WIndows machine must route correctly the connections.

P.S.: if you run a Debian, you can get easily an HTTP proxy!
When using Windows, have you ever told "Ehi... do your business?"
