deb intall doesn't see my hard drive
i'm trying to install debian on my new computer on a totally blank hard drive. The debian installation says there is no partitionable media. knoppix sees it and ubuntu installation sees it so why doesnt debian. it's an sata hard drive. what can I do, i really want debian, not ubuntu

you could load the concerned SATA driver with the help of a floppy during the installation.

when the boot screen comes up try starting linux26.... this uses the 2.6 kernel, which should give support for sata
