    Problem with wireless card

    Hi, fellows

I am trying to make a SMC networks wireless card (model SMCWCBT-G) in Debian Etch on Gnome. Debian does not detect the hardware on inicialization, so I assume it is a problem of the OS rather than the desktop. I know the card is working because I installed the drivers on Windows 98SE on the same computer and it works just fine. What should I do?

I have also heard that Kubuntu behaves better with wireless devices. Anyone knows anything about this, too?

    Thanks

If there is a driver available for linux, try installing that (google linux SMCWCBT-G driver) . Or if you have your windows drivers handy, you can try installing ndiswrapper. In most cases though, I think your better off with the linux driver, it may be easier to install.

First google link: (search the page for your card, its in there)

    good luck!
