    Blank screen after grub boot



    Hi ..

    I after vaiour attempts to upgrade the kernel from 2.4.27 to 2.6.8 .. I did it the Debian way using dpkg .. everything went smoothly until reboot.. after Grub I get alittle bit of loading then the screen blanks out with a small cursor on the left handside that doesnt type anything or move ...

    Does anyone know what is causing the problem? With the previous attempts I used to get the Panic Kernel now I get nothing .. I miss the Panic Kernel

    Incase the VGA card have something to do with it .. I am using ASUS Radeon 9200 128MB

    Will apprecaite the help...

    can you give some details about your machine? also, can you post your grub.conf?
    Here's why Linux is easier than Windows:
    Package Managers! Apt-Get and Portage (among others) allow users to install programs MUCH easier than Windows can.
    Hardware Drivers. In SuSE, ALL the hardware is detected and installed automatically! How is this harder than Windows' constant disc changing and rebooting?

    Asus P4C800 Deluxe
    Radeon 9200 SE 128 MB
    300GB Maxtor SATA (Win XP)
    80GB Maxtor SATA (Debian Sarge)
    1 GB Ram


    I ended up removing Kernel 2.6.8 ... I compiled a new kernel 2.6.17.8 and now facing the Kernel panic with he devfs issue ....

    You probably need to upgrade your sources.list for apt. There are going to be alot of upgrades after the kernel switch. I am using a 2.6.x kernel and im using udev instead of devfs (default on a fresh install).
