    X window configuration problem

When installing Debian, I told X to use VESA instead of VGA. It was default, I assumed it was right. I was wrong to assume that.

I'm at the shell, how do I alter this configuration?

You can edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf or run xorgconfig or dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg. If you use xfree86 instead of xorg, edit /etc/X11/XF86Config or run xf86config or dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86.
