VTune - the "OSMapFile" error
Hi
I'm trying to install the Vtune software on my new Debian system. This system is not supported by the producer(Intel). I get the following error when I run this application as an ordinary user:
1 OSMapFile: open failed. errno: 13
/opt/intel/vtune/bin/vtl: line 60: 30517 Segmentation fault "${BINARY}"
When I run it as the root user everything is ok.
I was thinking the problem is associated with permissions but changing them didn't help. My System.map file is ok too. Maybe some of you have a similar problem ?
Thanks for any help.
Best regards,
Raphael

If it runs as root, but not as another user its a permissions issue. Looks like vtune helps tweak hardware perf...i wouldnt suggest changing permissions to give normal users access to that sort of thing. I would stick to running it only as root.

This software can be configured for ordinary users too. I installed it on the supported systems (Suse, Red Hat) and everything works fine.
