Just installed Debian and the internet is really slow. Like 4 kb/s. I have also Fedora and Slackware and both don't have any problem with internet. Please help!...

    Slow internet

    Just installed Debian and the internet is really slow. Like 4 kb/s.

    I have also Fedora and Slackware and both don't have any problem with internet.

    You mean when downloading? That usually means that you need to choose a different mirror. BTW, I remember telling you to try download everything from apt-get on the Coffee Lounge. On install it asks you were you're located then gives you mirrors close to that area. You might want to choose a different mirror if the one you first chose is going too slow.

    Are you on a wireless connection? If so the number of other networks might be one of the problems. If you are using your own router or can access the router you're on log onto it (type '192.168.x.1 in your browser like you would a website. x=1 or 0) and then change the channel your router is set on under wireless settings. See how much of a diff that makes. Hope i could help. If you're on a hardwired network i don't know what it would be.

    I just have a non-DHCP 512 kbps ADSL.

    But i solved my problem by adding another DNS in /etc/resolv.conf
    I'm updating to sid right now because I downloaded sarge.
    My only problem now is the mouse wheel.
