debian dvd boot
im getting extremely frustrated trying to install debian 3.1 on my windows xp machine. im not trying to have a dual boot system. i just need some guidence. i am using the debian dvd iso image (4.36 gigs) and i restart my computer and it doesnt ask if i want to boot of the disk or anything. im a newb and need some help. thanks a lot everyone. im stressing

Make sure you set the BIOS to boot from the CD/DVD first.

yeah i made sure i did that. i can launch my windows setup cd when i restart.

Well then your Debian DVD is no good. Or your DVD reader just doesn't like it. Instead of making a new one, you can just use the Debian netinstaller.

Before burning the CD, make sure you check the md5sum of the .iso. A little hint here on how to check md5sums in Windows :
