    Netinstall trouble

I am trying to do a net install on my laptop. The installation screen tells me I'm not connected to the internet but the light on my D-Link PCMCIA (DFE-690TXD) card is lit and on my DSL modem as well. When I try to do a http download I get the follwing message:

    Failed to fetch
    http://mirrors.kernel.org/debian/dis...-i386/Packages.
gz Temporary failure resolving 'mirrors.kernel.org' Failed to fetch
    http://mirrors.kernel.org/debian/dis...y-i386/Release

    (/var/lib/apt/lists/mirrors.kernel.org_debian_dists_stable_main_binary-i

run apt-get update to correct these problems E: Some index files failed
to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

I'm using an old Dell Inspiron 3000 laptop (200Mhz processor. 64MB ram, 2.2 GB hard drive). I have access to the internet on my desktop. What do I do to get this card working?

I think you were not compiled PCMCIA module when install
Sugg you reinstall debian and type the "Linux26" word when start .

He is refering to the first screen you get when you boot the netinstall cd. Type linux26 and hit return. You can also view other boot options with F1, etc. However, depending on which netinstall cd you are using it might already be using the 2.6 kernel by default. I would suggest investigating whether or not your wireless card is supported by the kernel (and which kernel version) and make sure that the netinstall cd that you use has that kernel. There are netinstall cd's available for debian testing that usualy have a recent kernel version. Keep us posted
