    boot up

I am assuming that the error is when you start up the box ?

Bear in mind that when you install debian to a drive it sets up grub to look at a certain controller (for eg. /dev/hda1) for bootup, if u move the drive to another controller u need to edit grub to let it know where to boot from, however,
I have found an easy walkthru for adding / creating a raid1 array from a single drive , it helped quite a bit
