Xserver issue
I only started with Debian yesterday so a complete beginner with Linux. I installed Debian yesterday on an old emachines 190 machine.
I used the online install and everything went fine, installed GNOME and apache2 (using the initial config setup, not manual apt), restarted the machine and it loaded up into the desktop fine. Used it most of the day playing round with it. Got into a bit of a pickle trying to install MySQL so decided to do a complete re-install. Did, what I think, was the same as before when selecting the graphics card etc but after this install I get the error that Xserver cannot start.
Did I just luckily select the correct graphics card yesterday or has the install changed over night. This is really buggin me as 15 hours earlier on the exact same machine (no hardware changed on it) it decides not to work and I don't have a clue how to get around it!
Please could people give me some pointers, thank's very much!

Hello,
Can you please write the complete error line ?
What does it also say in /var/log/syslog ?
Cheers,
Jay

MMMM, done my sixth reinstall of the day and it has worked, the only difference being that I completed the setup without installing GNOME and once it was all completed I entered base-config and installed then.
This is confusing

your 6th reinstall ??
This shouldn't be.
But if you don't post error messages, or lines from your log files, we cannot help you, unless there are some fortune tellers among us
Anyway, since it is working now, good for you.
Cheers,
Jay
