    Text2Speech

    Hi,

    I'm interested in text2speech conversions.
For a while I was happy with the default english tts engine that comes with festival. Now I've found a translation package based on festival for my own language: Dutch.

But.... I don't get it to work on debian. It should be very easy, but I can't get the packages compiled, and don't know where to look for anymore.

The original page that started my headache is: http://nextens.uvt.nl/
These are the files you need:
    http://nextens.uvt.nl/download/distr....0-beta.tar.gz
    http://nextens.uvt.nl/download/distr...NEXTENS.README
    http://nextens.uvt.nl/download/distr....0-beta.tar.gz
    http://nextens.uvt.nl/download/distr...NINTENS.README
    http://www.cstr.ed.ac.uk/downloads/f...95-beta.tar.gz
    http://www.cstr.ed.ac.uk/downloads/f...95-beta.tar.gz

    From what I understand is:
    download festival&speech-tools.
./configure first speech-tools, then festival (this goes ok)
make in speech-tools dir. (does not go ok)
make in festival dir. (does't go, because of speech-tools error)
then unpack the nextens tar into festival.
copy the nextens config file in place and I think make-install the thing??

I hope there is someone that can point me in the right direction.
Thank you for reading this through.

hmmm, I'm trying to post the information of "Make" but for some reason the forum doesn't work. Just typing this message to inform you and to check for me if this forum still works. It could be of the strange characters in the logging.

    EDIT:
Ok, problem was probably because of the characters.
I've included an attachment wit the error messsage

    Craigedevil.
These pages are known to me.
But with that information I can't get it to work under debian.

I do know the basic Debian stuff, and understand the principle of text2speech.
Unfortunatly I think that my compiling skills arn't high enough at the moment.

Festival can be installed using APT/Synaptic.

Then all you need are the new language packages. I would suggest looking through the Festival docs.
