    hello all

    I have a debian distro that is based on stable version.I want to incorporate 3D desktop into my distro.How I need to start.what all packages and drivers are needed.Is there any good documentation for installing 3D desktop in a debian based distro.

    May I know the irc channel for debian 3D desktop.

    You will most probably need to install proprietary drivers for this which is of questionable legality at the moment.

    With intel chipsets it's fine as far as I know, ATI will be just about tolerable. nVidia however requires the proprietary drivers to have any 3D acceleration. ATI really needs them too to make the most of it.

    The thing is noone knows for sure if you can include the drivers and it is hotly debated. Kororaa came under fire for it but there are plenty of distros doing it now. If it's for personal use and not for distribution then it is fine.
