    Re-installing X?

With reference to an earlier post, I would like to know if it is possible to re-run the installation program which configures Debian? (Or is there some other straightforward way a beginner can get a gui working?) I guess that I entered the wrong info for the screen resolution, but note that the mouse doesn't seem to be recognised either.

I tried dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86, but that is too detailed and asks questions about things I never knew existed.

Please help me get my XWindows back.

    Smile Ah-ha!

I repeated trying dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 until it worked!
I now have the Gnome desktop running in higher resolution than before, although my scroll mouse doesn't scroll any more.

There are other problems I have to sort out, but I'm getting there... I think!

I'm still interested to know if there's a way of running the system setup which is part of the net install, in case I get problems again. Particularly if there's any way of repairing GRUB when it throws an error and just stops. Surely there's a better way than a complete reinstall?

To re-do the system setup, run base-config as root. As for reconfiguring GRUB, that I'm not 100% sure of yet.
