No sdx / hdx support after 2.6 update
After becoming so proud of myself to get debian up and running perfectly under 2.4, i update to 2.6 and everything goes downhill. My other SATA drive (sdb) and both my CD-ROMS (hda + hdb) cease to exist in /dev. ...which means i cant mount them:
mount /media/cdrom0 (which has an entry in fstab under /dev/hda) outputs:
mount: special device /dev/hda does not exist
Sure enough, there is no trace of hda, hdb, or sdb in /dev. WTF?
Yes, i do have automount enabled (with gnome-volume-manager installed), but that does not make a difference.
People had this same problem, but i could not find a fix. Sorry if this post is a redundant topic.
Any help would be appreciated.
