    Make sure you type
    Code:
    linux26
at installation prompt, so Debian installs with a 2.6 kernel instead of the default 2.4.

I've had Debian Woody and presently have Sarge running nicely on my 4080xcdt. Similar to yours. If you need pointers I can help. I've had Mandrake 10.0 also on it. (Between Woody and Sarge)

    Thanks for your response, cage47.

Yes, I would like to ask you for advice.

I need stable Linux version that can handle application with problem as a less as possible. Have chosen Debian, and I will stay with it. The question is which version [stable, testing, unstable]. Right now I am running Sarge
    [ 2.4.5 with Kernel 2.6.17 ] CLI configured, not GUI. That’s what I need.

Based on your experience you may have different opinion, so you are welcome for comments, direction, suggestions.

    Thank you,

    Timothy
