I have used apt-get and synaptic to install the latest k7 kernel.
Synaptic installs it ok, and I see it added to grub, but when I try and reboot using the new kernel, it gets to :
"Uncompressing Linux... Ok, booting the kernel"
and then just quits.
I checked grub to make sure all the files pointed to correct kernel and initrd, checked /lib/modules to make sure the k7 directory was there and it is.
Any ideas?

btw- I tried searching for this. the search input didn't allow for "k7", but loaded too many "kernel" pages to go through
