error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH

    Hello all,

trying to install Debian based IDS with SNORT 2.4.5 [ this is a package with Snort, MYSQL server, Apache-SSL Web server ]. Debian runs on Kernel 2.6.16 – 2 – 486 version July 15, 06.
Debian is finally successfully installed; however next step SNORT installation brings the message:

Configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH

    See ‘config.log’ for more details

#: line 7: make: command not found
#: line 8: make: command not found

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

‘config.log’ is in ‘config.5ssl.gz’ and it is not readable.

    Appreciate help.

    Thank you,

    Tom

Nevermind. I see your question was answered at the debian forum.
