    only low resolutions in X

    i just installed etch, and kde only allows me to choose between 640x480 and 480x320. there are no other alternatives in control center - peripherals - monitor.

    i have tried to change xorg.conf manually, but my changes have no effect. when i try dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg, i am told that my changes will not be saved, because "the file has been modified", which sounds very catch-22

    i am running etch on a mac mini, wich a ati radeon 9200 card, and a samsung syncmaster 17" screen.
