Some Problems for a complete tranfer to linux
hi guys
I've been thinking about a complete transfer to linux from windows for the last couple of months now but I have encountered soe problems and questions and I will be very happy if any of you guys can give me a hint or link or any helpful thing.
and by the way I have tried over 20 distros and my first peak is Debian and seceond one with a distance is fedora.
The Questions:
1-iTunes:Ihave a 30 gb fifth generation ipod wich I have to update with
iTunes. My question is "Is there any replacement for iTunes on Linux(Debian) that can sync with ipod's original os and read the media files that iTunes read or is there any other solution? I wasn't able to install linux on my ipod because 5G ipods with software 1.2 are not supported yet.
Is there any hope that we see an iTunes released for Linux from apple(I don't know why they don't do that?!)
2-The Media Files: Will I be able to open all media file formats such as wma , wmv (Which I think I did) but most importantly Apple lossless and AAC and all of my iTunes files.
3-Farsi fonts:My first language is Farsi and I will have soe documents written or readen in Farsi but I wasn't able to find proper fonts for it if there are any farsi speaking person in this forum who can help me that would be great. And also"What is the equivalent, if any, for the keyboard shortcut (Left ctl + Left shift) in Linux for switching back and forth to diffrent language layouts?
Any help from you guys would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your patience for reading this long thread.

hey jourman17, if these are your only problems then they arent much of a problem :d.
for Questions 1 and 2, there is a new program called songbird which is an identical replica of iTunes and also has better features than iTunes, you can check it out here.
As for your third question, well my first language is arabic so if you mean the by Farsi fonts and characters, those like in arabic, you can check out the arabeyes project here i think it has farsi fonts.
hope that you enjoy linux and hope that my reply was of help
Salam
