Did you make sure the file /etc/network/interfaces is rightly configured ? What about iptables ? Do you use any firewall ?

Thx for the reply. Am using Debian 3.1 sarge.for now the server is not connected to the internet but is connected to a LAN.I assigned an ip add to server as 192.168.5.1,subnet 255.255.255.0.The windows clients has an ip 192.168.5.2,192.168.5.3 etc but all the pcs communicate and cant ping each other.hey systems supposed to communicate to each other with or without an internet connection.Am not using any firewall.This is a final yr project am doing as a proxy server.Thx
