    help with firefox

I installed firefox using apt-get, I then went to try and start it, and it came up with an error....

    (firefox-bin:2387): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display:

I'm just running debian off a command line, because I want to run it as a server, but I thought I would play around a bit and try running firefox, but do I need a GUI to run firefox??

to run Firefox, you will need X installed and running. If it's command line web browsing that you want to do, then you could look into Lynx/Links. They're fairly decent command line web browsers. And if you have a framebuffer console, you can even view the images with links2
