Dist-upgrade a Debian system from Knoppix

My new Debian system won't connect to the internet (as seen in another post) to apt-get dist-upgrade. I was hoping there would be an easy way to download all of the .deb files on a new Debian system to my Debian partition from Knoppix (which can connect to the internet). Once I have a full system it should be a breeze to get the network working Debian. Any ideas?

No you cannot do a dist-upgrade using knoppix and then somehow load it on your debian install. Even if you did it would not magically "make" the internet work since according to the other thread your network card should be fine you just need to get the network setup correctly.

If you are going to do anything then give Debian Etch a try. Download the full etch CD1 and use it. It as a easier installer that may help you get your network setup correctly.

Great idea! I love this version! It looks quite a bit better than the one I was trying to install. Thanks a lot! The ethernet card worked as well.
