Knoppix 5.01 Linux Partition Unrecognised Problem
I installed the Knoppix 5.01 to my hard disk by viewing the video tutorial from Irongeek (following the step-by-step procedures by typing the kanotix-installer command from the root shell). Everything works fine until it comes to the part when I use the Qtpart to partition my hard drive. This is what I did with the partition ...
1. 512MB for the linux-swap (Partition type: linux-swap)
2. 10GB for the linux hard drive install (Partition type: ext3)
However, after that, the root shell told me that the partition type is unrecognised.
Then, I proceed on with the procedures that is showed in the irongeek knoppix installation tutorial, and finally, a menus showing that the Knoppix OS has been succesfully installed on the hard drive. Then, I reboot my system. However, linux can't reach the Knoppix desktop. It just paused at the penguin picture (with all the black colour background).
I hope that somebody can offer me some help. Thanks.

does it show any error message, failed service etc. on booting up?
boot up from Knoppix CD and check partition structure. post the output of 'fdisk -l'.
casperIt is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

After booting from the LiveCD, the partition structure is as below ...
512MB for the linux-swap (Partition type: linux-swap)
10GB for the linux hard drive install (Partition type: ext3)
When booting up, it does not show any error messages at all. It just stop at the part where there is a penguin picture on the top left of the screen (with black color background).
I am pretty sure that the 512MB partition format should be linux-swap (as the name of the partition format implies). However, I am not quite sure it the 10GB hard drive install should be ext3? I chose ext3 because of the irongeek tutorial.
The root shell did says that the partition is not recognised ... (I suspect this is the reason that linux cannot be booted). Perhaps, should I choose other partition format? If so, which partition format should I choose? (There is quite a lot of choices available). Hope you can advice.
I have actually installed the Knoppix Linux with the actual install and also the VMWare install ... but I do face the same problem either way I install. Below is my system information ...
