    usb flash drives

I had a debian install with a 2.6.2 kernel that didn't have any problems auto recognizing usb flash drives. I upgraded to the 2.6.3 kernel and now the flash drive does not auto recognize, and when I go to su root and enter mount /dev/sda1 /mnt then it shows up but it won't let me write to it on two out of three machines. On the third machine, when I have mounted it as root then it lets my user write to it.

Also, when I pull the flash drive out, I can't un mount it until I have logged out of the current gui session.

What should I do? Can I get these machines so they will auto mount the flash drives? I also have a newer flash drive that isn't recognized by any of the machines, it is a Memorex Traveldrive.

    Thanks in advance.

    Tom

    oops

I wrote the wrong kernel number. I currently have a 2.6.8-3 kernel. It seems like the 2.6.8-2 kernel I had last also had a package that seems to no longer be available called "usbmount" or something like that. I would really like to get the usb flash drives working.

    thanks!
