    Installing Debian

Well, I have decided to try out Debian. I was going to install it on a SATA drive and come to find out that Debian doesn't have the right drivers to detect the SATA drive. I was wondering where I could get the proper drivers for the installer to detect the SATA drive?

    Thanks,
    Jeffrey

Which version of Debian is that ?

I never had any trouble installing Debian on SATA drives. What kind of motherboard do you have (or what kind of SATA controller) ?

Perhaps you can try to set your SATA controller to "compatibilty mode" in the BIOS.

I'm not sure which version it is. I got them from here:

    http://debian.midco.net/pub/iso/

    # debian-30r4-i386-binary-1.iso
    # debian-30r4-i386-binary-1_NONUS.iso
    # debian-30r4-i386-binary-2.iso
    # debian-30r4-i386-binary-3.iso
    # debian-30r4-i386-binary-4.iso
    # debian-30r4-i386-binary-5.iso
    # debian-30r4-i386-binary-6.iso
    # debian-30r4-i386-binary-7.iso

    And got those files.
I'm using an Asus K8V-X SE motherboard and I already have Kubuntu installed on the computer, I just wanted to try out Debian because right now I'm frustrated with Kubuntu because everytime I try use the All-In-Wonder driver that comes on the CD it messes up. So I was hoping that Debian wouldn't have the same problem.

Wow that's old. It's Debian Woody (release in 2002). I suggest you try the newer version, Etch (now on Release Candidate 1).

You can download the netinstaller from here (only 1 CD needed) :
    http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/et...86-netinst.iso

Well, the file you listed are called "Debian-30r4...".

Woody is Debian 3.0, so that's Woody revision 4.
Sarge is Debian 3.1 (the actual stable version).
Etch is Debian 4.0 (testing, but almost stable, to be released in less then a month).
