Has anyone experienced MD5 checksum errors with the ATI Driver Installer 8.28.8?

after downloading the driver installer from the ati.amd.com site , I tried to build debian packages using:

fakeroot ./ati-driver-installer-8.28.8.run --buildpkg Debian/sarge

I've downloaded the package direct to the linux box (56kb modem, rather painful) and also downloaded onto a windows XP box, then copied to CD for transfer to Linux system. I get the same error both times with the same checksum. I've tried this on two Linux machines with Debian 3.1r3 and get same results.

Is the file potentially corrupt at the source or is there some step I'm omitting during the download?
