Help with Broadcom 5751 NIC isntallation
I really could use some help on this. I am using a KNOPPIX/DSL LiveCD to run a kiosk for some computers that only have access to Mozilla. It is called BoothCD.
I need help on installing the Drivers for a Braodcom NetXtreme 5751 NIC card.
the boothcd is running Kernel 2.4.26, I have been trying to learn how to recompile the kernel to 2.6.x, but have failed horribably.
When I run lspci -v
Ethernet Controller: Broadcom Corporation: Unknown device 1677 (rev 01)
Subsystem: Dell Computer Corporation: Unknown device 01ad
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 11
Memory at fe8f0000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=64k]
Capabilities: [48] Power Management verion 2
Capabilities: [50] Vital Product Data
Capabilities: [58] Message Signalled Interrupts: 64bits+ Queue=0/3 Enable-
Capabilities: [d0] #10 [0001]
When running lsmod, the tg3 module is not loaded.
I know that the 2.6.x kernel has the Broadcom module built in.
Can someone recommend what I should do? The NIC autodetects with the 2.6.x kernel but not the 2.4.26.
I'm so frustrated with this, so any help I am going to be very thankful.

is this booth cd a custom knoppix distro? Knoppix use the 2.6 kernel by default.......
you might try instaling one of the debian 2.6 packages, that is what knoppix is based on.Brilliant Mediocrity - Making Failure Look Good

The boothcd was mad from an older version of Knoppix, I am more then willing to try and create a new Kiosk cd from a new linux, but I am lacking the knowledge of how to modify scripts for linux. There a quite a few scripts that are built into this boothCD here is the link to the site

If someone can point me to a website that can explain how I go about modifing linux scripts and making them start up when linux boots, I would love to take that route.
