Red face New guy needs advice (not specific)

An experienced computer user, but quite newbish in the areas of *nix. Before I unload on this forum with my questions, I would like to know if this board is newbie (a term that tends to be negative) friendly, and where I should post my elementary questions.

I chose the Debian area because it is my main choice distro, along with Lunar Linux and FreeBSD. Those three OS's are currently co-existing with MS-DOS, XP, and Vista on one hard-drive split into relevant partitions.

And they are all fighting like my family at Thanksgiving. I have lots to learn!

Well, we very rarely seem to run any folks off who come here, so I guess that would say we're relatively "newbie friendly". If you have questions about a specific distribution post them in their respective sections of the forum. If it's more general, look for a section that fits and if all else fails, the "Linux Newbie" section will work. Speaking of that section, I recommend you read this bit of information there:

    http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/lin...ead-first.html

It may answer some of your basic questions.

    You're the man.

That IRC Channel will be especially helpful. Thanks!
