Question Refresh rates Gateway solo 1450

    hello,
I am a debian newbie running Sarge. I need to know if, anyone knows the verticle and horizontal refresh rates for the Solo 1450. I have searched endlessly and gateway is of NO help. I can get the gnome desktop to run in 16 bit but, only am able to choose 640x480 screen size @60Hz. Any help is much appreciated!

Thanks for your help Virgil83, it still did not work......I have read that it maybe a bios problem, I have the newer one since before I installed linux 'Sarge' Winblows told me i had a bios problem and needed to upgreade because it kept crashing my machine! I have 'sarge' 2.4.27-2-386 kernel installed. I have the 3.1r4 dvds, do you know how to install a different kernel? I am a newbie at this yet I am becoming proficient in shell commands . I was going to get my wireless up and running and update things from there yet i seem to be running into problems with that as well Anyway thanks for the help!!!!!

you may try the 2.6 kernel. It *shouldn't* help with the graphics, but it may be useful with wireless and other things. To install a new kernel, do
    Code:
    apt-get install kernel-image-2.6-xxxxx
and replace the xxx with whatever one you need

Oh, I just found something that does make it seem like a bios issue (and may be what you found)
