fileusage of my partition is detect false

I'm running debian on laptop with Sata drive and the partition i'm talking about is reiserfs formatted. I tried to clean up my harddrive to get some space to repartition my harddrive and deleted a bunch of files. One of them was 4.0 GB big. But after I deleted the file, the freespace on the disk was not detected greater. There is no link to the file there anymore. And when I scan the partition with Filelight the diskusage is right.
My question, what can I do that the other programs like qtparted detect that there is actual more free space than they see?

Thx. If any other questions accur, just ask and I'll try to answer them.

What was your method for determining the (incorrect) disk usage?

When you say 'there is no link to the file anymore' it makes me suspicious. Was the original file a symlink?

If I like up the freedisk space with konqueror it says I have 4.8 gb free of 14 gb. That was the same as before I deleted the file! When I use filelight it says i use only 4.6 gb of 14, which should be about correct.
I don't think it was and symbolic link to the file, because I copied myself to this point.

Any idea which program I could use?

At the moment I'm trying to install kleansweep to clean up, but I've a problem with that also:

    this thread I posted it!

    hi
Are you using any torrent client to download some stuff from the net?

try 'df -h' it will tell you the correct disk usage datas

and i suggest you read the manul page of the "df" and "du" commands
