    Debian Swap

I am in the process of making my laptap dual boot into linux (debian etch) and windows. The partions I made are as follows in order given
    6 GB linux_os ext3 format
1.6 GB linux_swap linux swap format
    7 GB windows ntsf
    23 GB os_share fat32

Does anyone know how I can get my linux debian partition/OS to use the 1.6 gb linux swap partition? On installing, the installer reported that no swap partion existed but I know it does because in window with partion magic 8, I see the partition in the correct format.

    thanks for the help,
    Zack
