laptop touchpad

My laptop touch pad cursor moves really slow when moving my fingers across it. When I plug in a USB mouse, it works fine though.

I tried the desktop->preferences->mouse setting but that does not seem to effect the touch pad.

the touch pad is working and all, just way too insensitive, like i have to move my finger 20 times to get accross the screen.
