Sarge APACHE-PHP-MYSQL

Hi all,

I installed Sarge on a Dell PE840
All is ok,
Now im trying to install APACHE-PHP and MYSQL.
I can get Apache installed no problem, but when installing PHP, everything seems to be ok, I followed a bunch of different docs on the net on changing to make apache load PHP files, but there is something I am obviously missing as I cannot open a PHP file (default phpinfo)
Just says that it's trying to download the index.php instead of parsing it.

What am I missing?

Also, should I install APACHE2 instead of 1.3? what about PHP? 4 or 5?

P.S.: Installed all theses using commands:
apt-get install apache
apt-get install php4
apt-get mysql

never mind,

I found a terrific site on the net for compilling Apache2 and PHP5 and works like a charm, all this after 15 min, everything is working. Now only have to test the mysql.
