wait a min. Maurizio1230 run uname -r to check what kernel you have. You may have have 2.4 something (2.4 is still default in Sarge, 2.6 is optional).

i'm downloading debian 3.1r4. Whem i fisish download and install debian i check the kernel and i write here the problem.

wait have not installed it yet? In that case, if you hit enter at the boot screen of the install disk, it will install 2.4.27. If you type linux26, it will install 2.6.8

ok. I install the kernel 2.4.27-2-386 with enter.
But i have a big problem: i don't see the desktop
I see only something like shell.
How can i see a beautiful desktop?
