Unable to see my packages

hi everyone
this is the error i get when i tried to add 'ftp.uk.debian.org' to my repositories and now i am not able see any of my packages please help

E: Type 'ftp.uk.debian.org' is not known on line 22 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list
E: Unable to lock the list directory

try to comment out that line and run apt-get update
apt-get and synaptic is lock out each other

As iwanabeguru mentioned, the answer is in your /etc/apt/souces.list file. You can google something like "Debian mirrors in UK," or go directly to the debian.org website and lookup the addresses, then, you can copy the addresses in that file (sources.list).
