    Firefox updates inactive

    hi i have a few problems
    1)I am using firefox version 1.5.0.7 and i want to change my browser from firefox to iceweasel how do i do it i already tried to get it changed by adding some new sources and then using apt-get dist-upgrade but it did not work i tried the same thing at my frnds place and it worked thr
    2)Y are the firefox updates options inactive except for the extensions and themes options
    3)and y do i get this error

    1) iceweasel is only in sid
    2) Try running apt-get clean then apt-get update. Now see if the errors go away

    ok first of all how can i find out wat version of debian am i runnin
    and i used apt-get clean but the errors are still there

    by version i mean whether it is stable or unstable or it is sid etc

    Take a look at your /etc/apt/sources.list For example, I am running sid so I have an entry that is deb http://http.us.debian.org/debian/ unstable main

    actually, just post your sources.list..... that may be the source of the problem

    1) Iceweasel is only in Sid so far.

    2) The update option is greyed out because otherwise Firefox would try to update from Mozilla, which you do not want to happen. If you want the Mozilla vesion go here:

    3) You need to add the gpg key for the debian-multimedia.org repo.
