Installing XFCE
I am going to install the netinstaller version of Debian but I want XFCE. Anyway I know you have to install several stuff for KDE to work. Could someone just tell me exactly what it is you need to install XFCE and make it run on debian so I don't struggle once I'm at the command

EDIT: Is there no way I can get the netinst version of Etch ? I have sarge but I don't want to use that neither do I have enough bandwidth to go download a full etch distro and besides I like adding what I like instead of having packages I don't want/need.

The best thing to do would be to just install the base system, then apt-get x-window-system-core, gdm and xfce. Everything will just fall into place that way, then you can add whatever other software and it will show up under XFCE's menu.
As for getting the net install of Etch, yes. It's under the "Network Install" menu, there's only two catches though, you need to use the Daily builds since they're the only ones that work and the gui frontend to debian-installer doesn't always work."Today you are freer than ever to do what you want, provided you can pay for it!" --Bad Religion

Download this Etch iso:

And you should be good to go.

Thanks very much for the link, but the while idea is to download a netinstaller or something like it which I can build upon, being for two reasons:
1 - I like building up my own computing environment.
2 - I have a 3GB monthly bandwidth limit, so I can start out small and work from there...if I download 600MB it's more than 1/6 of my bandwidth gone.
