    Question pondering...

    Hello,
This is my first time posting on Linux Forums. I am thinking of getting a linux system on my computer and I've gone over information I've seen online... but I wanted to know from people who have actually used Debian, if Debian is really the best distro for me to start with... or should I go with Mandriva? I like Debian, but I'm not sure, I think I should start with something a bit more user-friendly... because I've read that Mandriva is usually a good distro for beginners. Please, I'm interested in what others think... let me know; thanks!
Also... I've tried looking for a cd of Debian to order online, but all I can find are groups of cds... I'm kind of low on cash and living from paycheck to paycheck... does anyone know where I can order just one cd? Please respond! Thank you!!!

I would suguest Ubuntu. Only 1 CD, easy to use, and it is based on Debian. You can get free cds shipped to you

Different users = Different needs = Different distros... That's why you have so many options in Linux...

Ubuntu is good because it will allow you (hoepfully) to jump right into a desktop environment (GUI) without worrying to much about the hardware.

My suggestion is to first download a LiveCD distro such as SimplyMEPIS (just as an example). These type of distros are able to run the whole show from your CD-ROM drive (without any installation at all!!!).

    Cheers,
