    USB printer problems in etch

Hi my usb printer has stopped working since i upgraded to etch. Its a samsung 1610 and was fully supported under sarge. Basically none of the printer setup programs will detect it. I think the problem is that they are looking for usb devices on /dev/mfp[#], However these dont exist - the closest i´ve got is a folder called mfpports in dev which has 0 1 2 3 in it or a usb folder which has loads of stuff in it.

Anyone know why this has happened? I was thinking i may have been asked about some settings relating to this when i upgraded and its hidden the ports or something.

    Cheers

actually think it might be a general usb thing - none of the programs seem to recognise anything usb and if i use lsusb it doesnt tell me anything even with -v.
I bought an mp3 player today that should be plug and play and apparently is supported by linux - i should just need to mount it, but that doesn't work either.

    any help much appreciated

    Cheers
