problem with .dat files
hi everyone
I installed mplayer in my system running on Debian Sid, but the problem is i am still not able to play a VCD in my system.
I tried playing the same file using Totem but it gives an error
Totem could not play 'file:///cdrom/mpegav/avseq03.dat'.
There is no plugin to handle this movie.
I tried with VLC player also but still it doesnt work
I already installed all the gstreamer plugins but still it doesnt work
someone please help me

You also need to install the win32 codecs. If you used the debian multimedia site to install mplayer, they are there too.

Hi npaidi,
To play VCDs and DVDs using mplayer, read the below mentioned post : -

Also, after copying the .DAT file to your hard disk, are you able play it using mplayer?
