Debian Linux 3.1 FTP Link

Hi i m new on linux. i have Debian Linux 3.1
and trying to conect to an ftp site .
i go to mc-Left-FTP link
and i put the ftp add.
/#ftp:user: pass@ip: port
but this ftp needs an AUTH SSL
and also secure file listing and secure file transfer.
how can make it conect with ssl through my linux box?
