Problem installing Debian
Hello all.
Today I decided to remove my Mandriva installation and switch to Debian, as a newbie, I figure I should test different distributions out. Anyway, the installer kept bringing up an error saying "NO PARTITIONABLE MEDIA FOUND." After searching other threads on a few forums and googling my problem, I found a "modded" so to speak form of the installer which installed fine. But, only the first disc. So, all it installed were the base files, and GRUB.
My question is, what do I need to do to install the other 14 CDs? I got the newest 15CD distro from debian.org, but I'm unable to find the URL where I got the other CD. It also gave me a couple commands to use to install the other CDs, I couldn't find a place to type it all in. I'm very confuzed.
It told me to type
#apt-cdrom add
#taskel
I'm not sure what that will do, or where to put it, so if anyone could, can you help me? It would be very appriciated.
Thanks a ton in advance.

Being a newbie (as you said) coming from Mandriva, I think it is best to do a reinstall (with the first CD only) and select Dektop Environment (when prompted use the space bar to select the option during installation). There are 15,000+ packages in those 14 CDs so there is no easy answer to your question: eeeverything is in there

Cheers

Thanks, but I'm not seeing the place to use the spacebar to get the Desktop Environment. =/

What parts of the installation have you completed?
What version of Debian are you trying to install?
After the first part of the installation is completed, the cd is ejected and you are asked to reboot. After this, you can select things like what are you going to use it for (Desktop env., file server, web server, etc.).
Cheers,

It's a 3.1 installer. I never noticed that, I'll give it a shot. Thanks!

Actually, after trying again, I still don't see it. At the very end you say? When I finish installing, it says to take out the disc and it just reboots.

Just pay attention to all the steps. There is one called Debian Software Selection :

As soccercisco said, use SPACEBAR to make a selection (TAB and ARROWS will change selected items), and ENTER to advance to the next step.
Perhaps this tutorial can help you :

I'll try following that tutorial. I think I may have had the wrong type of CD, or maybe I just didn't install right, but I never saw the image in your first link.
