Unhappy no GUI for debian on VMWARE

    Hi Everyone,
I am running VMware workstation 5.0 and I have successfully installed Debian on it.

My problem is I can't run the X. I have install X and kde using apt but when I run startkde, i get an error message that says Can't open Display.

The VMware is running on a IBM thinkpad with ATI Radeon 7500 graphics card. i have attached a picture of the error message's content.

    Thanks in advance.

I actually got this working. So for anyone else you might run to the same problem here is what worked for me.

Since you're using VMWare, the OS, doesn't really know and can interact with your graphics card. So once you've downloaded kde and xserver run the following
    Code:
    dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86
and instead of choosing the graphics card that is actually installed on your computer, go down to the bottom of the list and choose VMWARE.

Everything else is the same as a regular setup.
