how to configurate debian internet.

Hi everybody.

I'm new in linux. I installed debian distribution but I don't what do I need to do in order to configurate and activate internet account. (what do I need to request from internet provider, where configurate new account in linux, etc.)
Sorry, I forgot to add that the modem is adsl connected via cable to Ethernet in the PC.
Please, could somebody help me?

It depends on your service provider. Some require passwords on your computer itself, some do it through the modem. How do you connect in windows?
