    removing kernal image???

While I'm upgrading debian Sarge to Etch, the package manager asks me if I want to remove the kernal image (2.4.27-3-386).
Why is that? I said NO. Has anyone else got into that problem?

Its not a problem. During upgrades or security updates, some package managers will remove older kernels (or ask you if you wish to remove older kernels) that you may no longer be needed on your system.

Well, it was a problem. It killed my OS>
The problem was taht I had only test sources in my sources.list.
I reinstalled, added a stable source (debian stable), and the instalation worked.

the etch use the 2.6.17 kernel , and if you upgrade your system the package manager remove the old kernel and install the new , but you must edit the boot loader configuration by hand
