Creating an administrative share in Samba ...

    Hi everyone:

I posted this in the "servers" forum, but didn't receive any replies, so I thought I'd try to post here to see if anyone can help me.

Am running Debian v3.0, and I have user folders for all of my users in the /home partition of the hard disk. Each folder is set to that user is the owner, and the group assigned is "teachers".

What I want to do is to create a Samba share and share the entire /home partition with read/write access for only one specific user - a user called "rocketvault". We have a rocketvault backup device, and I want to share the entire /home partition so that we can back that partition up. Rocketvault only accepts Windows and Samba shares - thus, the reason why I need to share this via Samba.

I'm not quite sure how to accomplish this in Linux, and need some help. I know that Windows creates an "administrative" share, so you can map \\server\partition_letter$ and have access to the whole drive. This would be exactly what I'd like to accomplish in Linux, but don't know how.

I'm using KDE as my GUI, as well as the Webmin modules. Could someone provide some help so that I could figure this out?

    MANY Thanks!

There is a lot of good samba howto info here.

Perhaps this will help. I have to leave for work right now.
