problems with p5vdc-mx kernel 2.6.8 debian

Hi guys
I have some problems too.
when use 2.6.8 (in various flavors) the kernel simply don't reconize the via PCI bridge so, all the parts (usb, network, sound ) do not works.
but the kernel 2.4.26 works fine.
it appears that the problem is in config file for kernel compilation
I will try to compile myself
anybody knows somthing about other kernels than 2.6.8 ?
I've notice that kernel 2.6.18 works fine
