hello~

In the process of modernizing an old powerbook 5300 by attempting to install Linux, something I know nothing about, I have created a difficult situation.. It is all supposed to be a learning process, oh well, but I'm stuck.

Situation:
Powerbook has no CD drive, no ethernet. Floppy and PCMCIA, and SCSI. It is a nubus machine so i went with Mklinux, which seems to have a debian (sarge) front end, I suppose. I cannot continue the install because SCSI for the 5300 is not supported, nor Net install since I lack the appropriate supported ethernet. PCMCIA "may or may not be supported", the documentation says.

(Which doc, you might ask? Well, all info I've gotten hold of is of questionable value since it all seems to be out of date, 1, and 2, I barely know what to make of anyway...)

SO, PCMCIA seems to be visible under /etc/pcmcia, but I don't know how to even simply open the config... or if that even does anything. I have a pc card compact flash with Mac OS Sysyem 7.5.5 I would like to use as the new boot volume, instead of the HD. How do I accomplish this?

***How do I tell the debian sarge installer to set PCMCIA as the startup volume? ***

Also, I've tried booting from a mac os floppy but it is always kicked out for some reason...

any help would be greatly appreciated!!
